You know the winter/xmas song "Baby it's cold outside"? Well, that one's been rolling around my head today. It's warmed up to -12 C at the airport this afternoon, with arctic outflow winds gusting around 42 km. Thankfully, I live just north east of the airport and I'm sheltered by the Copper / Thornhill Mountain from most of the wind. Supposed to get colder yet, and last for over a week. On the good side, beautiful clear blue skies that really set off the snow capped mountains (basically no snow left on the city streets & yards). Pretty sparking stars at night - don't think there's much in auroras happening lately. 7 days to winter solstice, longer days and warmer sunshine!
I hear Shames is due to open up soon. I'm not a downhill skier (or a skier period, although I'd like to try cross-country sometime). And I sure the snowmobilers are loving the mountaintops!
Are you ready for christmas? 10 days and counting!...
