It's a balmy +7 C party sunny afternoon with a strong south wind. Quite a nice change from the rain that was falling when I woke up this morning. I'm working on a couple of projects before heading to my parents for their Thanksgiving + anniversary dinner. I just wanted to wish all the Canadians here a happy Thanksgiving. Please give some thought to what you are thankful for today - clean, inexpensive water flowing from my taps, a roof over my head that doesn't leak (and I own, not the bank), that I live in an area that doesn't suffer from tornadoes or hurricanes, my freedom of choice. That I live where the winters are fairly mild. I'm thankful for a working furnance, hot water tank, stove, fridge, electricity, my family living close by, my friends, my health, my bank account...

And I urge everyone to vote tomorrow.

I know the ballot selection is less than desirable for a lot of Canadians. But my belief is if you decline to vote because you don't like the selection, then your passing your option & your tax dollars to be controlled by the vote of the few - a good number of which prefer small voter turnouts because it fits their agenda. I have voted in every election I've been eligible for, whether I liked the selection or not.

I'm not going to preach who you should vote for. I have the same problem as most of you deciding who to select. For me it's come down to this. Which party is the closest fit to my belief system? What is their "mission statement"? They can make all the promises they want - we the voters know that keeping that promise is another matter entirely. It all comes down to what the party stands up for.

It's a great day to be thankful you have the choice to vote.
