Election signs

I'm not one to complain about little things in life, but my beef is with all the election signs all over the place. I'm all for residents/businesses posting signs on their property promoting their candidate choice. I don't have a problem with the big signs at major intersections. But do we need to have so many small flags everywhere? The top of the hill on Old Lakelse Lake Drive had what - about 8 of them, each a car length apart. It seems like a waste of contribution money to me. A popularity contest in flags isn't going to sway the vote.

I think you are right on the money with that comment. It was the same here in Smithers. Who got in in Terrace? Lib? NDP?

Skeena went NDP again - Robin Austin with just over 50% of the vote. Liberals got just under 38%. Skeena has always been strongly NDP. According to the newspaper, voter turn-out dropped to 53.5%. NDP usually does well here with the First Nations populace.

Maybe with 3 NDP MLAs we'll get more notice? Listening to all the talk during the race, I was wondering if the reason the "have not" regions struggle so much is because their MLAs are from opposition parties. How often has Skeena/Bulkley voted in a MLA from a opposition party?

And doesn't it seem like an antiquainted idea - opposition party? But how to change that (STV or other concept) when so many of the voting population won't vote because they don't like their options. Half the pop is willing to let the other half vote & choose our politics/healthcare/education/job futures... Is this their lessor of "two" evils choice? Or is half the population so busy trying to survive cheque to cheque, they don't care about their power to choose a future path?
