Municipal elections just finished and one of the hot topics again was what to do about the old Terrace Co-Op? So in the spirit of this discussion group, I'm going to share my opinion. Your welcome to share yours as well. Let your imagination take flight! Limit it to what would make a positive impact on our community, but don't worry if it isn't feasible or possible. Thoughts can become things...
My thought - although I have yet to visit Granville Island Public Market, I think this is one of many great concepts for this old lot (or anywhere else in town). A place where artisan clubs can have space as well as food & product stalls featuring items from the north coast and BC. Plants, pottery, woodworking, local/regional (BC) veggies, seafood from Kitimat,Rupert,Nass, BC produced honey, ethnic foods, native art, used book store, alternative health. Day booths for home business vendors or travelling businesses. What else can be included... Make it a year-round stop for tourists and residents. Make it "green friendly" focusing on a lifestyle of local/regional, organic, natural foods & products.
Would a smaller version of a public market also work in a half-empty mall?
