Just a word of awareness if you've just joined
NorthCoastBCOnline.ning.com network or are about to join. Once you choose to become a member of this network (or another of the Ning.com sites) you become a member of
www.Ning.com and your profile is viewable to the world.
But you can visit
www.Ning.com and sign on using your email/password and change your profile to several privacy options: have your profile viewable by everyone, viewable only to friends (on all Ning sites you're a member of, or make your profile private. So stop by
www.Ning.com, sign in and check to see what is viewable, what you want the world to see, even delete your profile if that is your choice.
The individual networks that make up the
www.Ning.com world work similar to fan pages on
Facebook.com. Technically any content posted on a Ning network, Ning.com can copy & use on other Ning sites as promotion. (I don't like that rule, but that's what is stated in the TOS and I've accepted it). Same thing probably happens with Facebook. However, on this network you can delete your profile and all your discussions (including groups created by you) will disappear from this network. The biggest drawback with this is if you are a strong member with quite a few discussions, this can leave big gaps in conversations.
