Important Notes

• Music only exists on your profile.
  Unlike Photos and Videos, music is only stored as part of your profile page, it is not part of a site-wide repository. However, music you add to your profile page music module will also
  show up on the home page music module.
  
• PLEASE DO NOT SET YOUR PLAYLIST TO AUTOPLAY
  (see below).
• Your songs must be in mp3 format only.
  The m4p or m4a format provided by some online music stores will not work in the music player.
• You may wish to turn off the enable download option if you do not have the rights for distribution of the music.
• These instructions simply explain how to use the site.
  There is no implication of legality of using the feature. Each member has to make their own choices regarding risks and practices.

Can we share music?

Yes. Ning features the ability to include music and podcasts on your profile, with the options for members to download the files or include them on their own page. Newly added music will appear on the home page.

NOTE: The administrator can choose to have music on the home page autoplay or play upon user click. The list can show an admin selected playlist, most recent, highest rated, or podcast.

How do I add songs from someone else's playlist to my own?

You can add songs from someone else's playlist to your own if they've allowed that option.
if you're on their profile page:

1. Just select the song to play.
2. It will appear above the list in the play/controls area.
3. Then click +Add to My Page under the play bar.
4. The song will automatically be added, with no further steps needed.

if you're on the home page:

1. click on the NAME of the person who posted the song, not the song itself.
2. this will bring you to their profile page, where their playlist resides.
3. follow steps 1-4 above

NOTE: you canNOT access the person who posted the song from the Music page.
However, if you like a song there and want to add it to your page try posting in the forum asking for the original poster.

How do I add music?

Upload songs from your computer

1. Go to My Profile, scroll down to the Music module
2. Click + Add Music at the bottom of the module
3. Browse and select songs from your hard drive. You can upload up to 4 songs at a time.
   NOTE: You can also add songs from another website (see below).
4. click Upload
5. Enter song information, all fields are optional:
   • song title, artist, album
   • add artwork
   • Click the More link to enter detailed information such as genre, label, and license
   • enable/disable members from downloading the song
   • enable/disable members from putting the song on their profile pages
6. Click Done to save your changes
7. Reorder songs if desired (see below), or just click Done

Upload songs from the web

1. follow steps 1-2 above
2. Go to the from another website box on the right side enter the URL for each song
3. click Add Songs
4. follow steps 5-7 above

Editing song information

1. Go to My Profile, scroll down to the Music module
2. Click Edit Playlist
3. Click the edit link next to the song you wish to edit
4. Click Done to save your changes

Changing the order of songs in a playlist

1. Go to My Profile, scroll down to the Music module
2. Click Edit Playlist
3. Drag the songs into the desired order
4. Click Done to save your changes

Deleting a song from your profile and playlist

1. Go to My Profile, scroll down to the Music module
2. Click Edit Playlist
3. Click the delete link next to the song you wish to remove
   NOTE: deleting a song from your playlist also removes it from your profile/account.

How do I turn OFF Autoplay?

1. Click Edit button at the top of the Music module
2. Uncheck the Autoplay box
3. Click Save

Why aren't my songs showing on my profile?

1. Click Edit button at the top of the Music module
2. Check the Show Playlist box
3. Click Save

How do I include a podcast on my profile?

1. Click Edit button at the top of the Music module
2. Select Podcast from the Play pulldown menu
3. Click Save
